L-DoFI was established in 2013 in Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru Campus with founding members including Dr. Matthew Musa Bafeshi, Miss. Kure Jochebed , Clara Atumga and a host of other volunteers with the goal of raising godly and excellent youths on campus and beyond. During the period of 2013-2016, several activities were carried out ranging from annual Freshman orientation, aimed at getting the fresh students acquainted with their new environment and provision of important and relevant information to get them started on the right footing as they commence their journey on the campus. Periodic leadership training, skills acquisition, secondary schools outreach, appreciation and send-forth of graduating members/volunteers. Our sincere appreciation goes to our patron, Pastor Lekan, JAWON; Matron Mrs L. Edia (CNO, university Health services); our great financial supporters Dr Bunmi Babatunde and Dr. David Titus Uche for the great supports received. To all team members and volunteers who were the primary funders of the organization, we are deeply grateful. The journey was not without challenges. As members/volunteers transited from school into the larger society, four years down the line, inactivity was recorded as new students recruited didn’t have a good knowledge of the vision and as such couldn’t run with it effectively. On securing admission into University of Jos, L-DoFI, University Of Jos chapter was established in 2018, with great support from the Team members and Volunteers, she commemorated the International Day of the Girl child, 2018 in L.E.A. Lamingo with over 200 young girls and female teachers in attendance. These girls were inspired to reach great heights by focusing on their education and report cases of sexual/domestic violence, early marriage facing them.
